Christian Hip-Hop Artist David P. Brooks (DPB) has been nominated for a BAMA Award for best Gospel/Christian Artist.

DonnaJean Records is proud to announce that their Christian Hip-Hop recording artist DPB has been nominated to receive a BAMA award for best Gospel/Christian Artist. The Birmingham Area Music Awards (BAMAs) is an awards program founded in 1998 by Birmingham Weekly (] to generate interest and recognition for local musicians. The 2008 Birmingham Area Music Awards will be held on Thursday, March 20, at the historic Carver Theatre in Birmingham, Alabama. Please cast your vote for DPB at Birmingham Weekly. DPB, aka David Paul Brooks, was born in Nyack, New York. Starting at 5 years old, he and his four siblings sang gospel music led by their single mother. After being abandoned by their father, DPB's mother focused on her children often working three jobs to support her family while always being involved in her children's lives. Most important to her was a spiritually focused home, which is the cornerstone of DPB's life. He is a Christian Hip-Hop artist who decided to write music that was not only positive, but with a message that could set people free from things in their lives that may be holding them back from a relationship with God. DPB has performed with D.O.C. (Disciples of Christ), a Grammy and Dove nominated group, with two number one songs on Christian-HipHop.Net. He has been on the same bill as Salt 'n Pepa, Kool Moe Dee, Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, dc Talk, Anointed, Deion Sanders, and many others...Performed on BET (Teen Summit) Gospel Special... Performed at festivals, amusement parks, in stadiums, churches, clubs, outreaches, etc. Now as a solo artist, DPB uses his music to minister to youth of all ages and races. This has taken him to new heights in ministry with a secular appeal, allowing him to teach, minister, and help inspire thousands of decisions for Christ. He and His nephew, Tyrell make up DPB & Crew.
