21st Century Software, a leader in Recovery Assurance solutions, announces the release of the industry's first cross-platform solution for ensuring the recoverability of critical applications, process, data and their ever-changing interdependencies across Mainframe, UNIX and Linux platforms.

Mainframe, UNIX, and Linux platforms have vastly different operating environments, and are typically managed by separate IT teams within an organization. Using DR/VFI, storage administrators, recovery managers, and line-of-business managers can monitor their recoverability status in real-time across Mainframe and Open systems platforms. The integration of business recovery assurance strategies across platforms will help companies ensure their recoverability and achieve more aggressive Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).

Dave Russell, Research Vice President with Gartner, notes that "our discussions with enterprise customers definitely show the need for an integrated recovery monitoring and reporting solution to improve a business' ability to ensure availability of key data assets."

DR/VFI continuously and consistently monitors critical applications and data interdependencies throughout an organization, identifies the interdependencies between those applications and data, and ensures those assets are retained by the most secure and efficient strategy. In addition, the ability to audit and verify status by application and process enables organizations to validate their recoverability to executives, shareholders, and regulators.

Wilson also noted that the DR/VFI Recovery Assurance Simulation capabilities combined with the cross-platform functionality is another clear differentiator for 21st Century Software in the industry.
