Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology Selects Kinaxis RapidResponse

Response management solution to improve operations performance amid constant business volatility and continuous product innovation.

Ottawa, Canada (PRWEB) March 11, 2008 -- Kinaxis™ Inc., the leading provider of an on-demand Response Management service to drive rapid and more profitable response to daily changes in demand, supply and product inside the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) horizon, today announced that Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology (TMD) has chosen to deploy Kinaxis RapidResponse ™ across its global supply chain to improve its operations performance in the face of acute and constant volatility.

TMD, the product of a joint venture between Toshiba Corporation and Matshushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd, was established in 2002 and is now a leader in the rapidly evolving global LCD display market. As the market demands increasingly smaller, lighter and more consumer-oriented products, TMD must keep on the leading-edge of product innovation, continually producing the next-generation of LCD technologies. In an industry characterized by such aggressive demands and exceptionally short product lifecycles, responsiveness is an operational imperative to continued success.

Empowering supply chain participants to work dynamically with instant and detailed insight will allow TMD to effectively manage change as it happens, and do so in a way that will benefit its top and bottom line.
With a priority to be able to quickly sense and respond to constant change, TMD was looking for a tool that could support its required Response Management capabilities, allowing them to:

  • Quickly understand the specific impact to individual business divisions when faced with a change in product, demand or supply.
  • Control and understand the logic behind change analysis and output, instead of relying on the black-box, machine-thinking of a planning optimization process.
  • Incorporate human input and collaboration to make necessary tradeoffs and ensure actions best align with key objectives and priorities.
  • Judge multiple action alternatives according to various divisional and corporate goals.
TMD selected the RapidResponse for Manufacturing solution because it combined multi-enterprise visibility, people-centered collaboration and real-time analysis tools. TMD expects RapidResponse to enhance its supply chain flexibility and responsiveness, thus allowing them to keep pace with unpredictable and severe market demand changes.

"In the LCD display industry, volatile demand and rapid product innovation mean change is the only constant," says Randy Littleson, vice president of marketing at Kinaxis. "Empowering supply chain participants to work dynamically with instant and detailed insight will allow TMD to effectively manage change as it happens, and do so in a way that will benefit its top and bottom line."
