London based actress Natascha Slasten gets set to move to the home of film and entertainment, Los Angeles, CA. The Mountview Academy and TVI Actors Studio graduate has decided to engage in the world of U.S. film and TV, using her German/Ukrainian background to give her an edge. Of her impending move Natascha said "The call for various nationalities for roles is expanding."
Foreign film admissions increased by 18.7% to £216million in 2006, with a 4.9% revenue decline in domestic feature films. (source: U.S. Census Bureau news). This increase heralds an escalating interest in overseas productions and talent. Tapping into the niche market peaks Natascha's interest, with her heritage and language skills making her a strong contender for success in this sector.
"My background allows me to be diverse and flexible in terms of roles, whether it be German or Eastern European, yet unique to the US market", she said, when asked to comment on her castability. "With my fluent grasp of German, English and French I feel I can offer a talent with a twist."
After training at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, London and taking part in the National Actors' Showcase at the TVI Actor's Studio in Los Angeles, she has enjoyed playing a variety of roles such as Isabella in Shakespeare's 'Measure for Measure' and Puck in 'Midsummer Night's Dream'. Success in commercials followed with various BBC projects and with Zantac.
Natascha has worked extensively in the voice-over market for clients such as Toyota and Heineken. Not adverse to unique challenges within the business world, she has worked also with Liverpool Cathedral and tour operator The Big Bus Company, supplying the German voice-over for tour guides and information purposes. Her voice lends itself to voice-over, not just within the commercial arena but also within a more creative medium such as music and she is looking to explore this with the right projects.
As an actress and voice-over artist fluent in German, English, French, and with a knowledge base of Italian and Russian, Natascha is hopeful for the impending career move to the US to pursue opportunities in an expanding market.
