His code name was "Client 9" and it didn't take long for websites like TshirtVents.com to pounce right on Eliot Spitzer's codename "Client 9" t-shirt designs. After court papers linking Gov. Eliot Spitzer to a prostitution ring, he announced his resignation. But the circus surrounding "Client 9" is just getting started.
A slew of websites have started selling "Client 9" t-shirts all over the Internet. One of the first to hit the net was the website Tshirtvents.com, a current events t-shirt website at http://www.tshirtvents.com.
Right after the scandal broke, Tshirtvents.com had "Client 9" t-shirt orders rolling in.
"If you're foolish enough to do something so stupid, then we got a t-shirt for you," says Carl Ross, one of the owners at TshirtVents.com. "We're one of the most 'Politically Incorrect' t-shirt sites on the net".
After resigning in disgrace, Gov. Eliot Spitzer said: "I cannot allow my private failings to disrupt the people's work."
Calls for the Governor's resignation came immediately after news of the allegations broke.
