GovDelivery, Inc., the world's leading provider of government-to-citizen email communication solutions, today announced a milestone for New Jersey client, Somerset County. Since the Somerset County Board of Freeholders launched its free GovDelivery email subscription service in 2003, the county has seen an overwhelming response to the service and now has over 10,000 subscribers.

"We are pleased to recognize Somerset County for reaching this important milestone," says Zach Stabenow, co-founder of GovDelivery, Inc. "Citizen participation at this level is a sign of the appreciation and value of this service to the public. Somerset County continues to be a leader in communicating with its residents."

Somerset County launched its email subscription service in January of 2003, has over 10,000 people signed up to receive free email updates, and offers over 80 email subscription items. The email alerts are available for topics such as Weather Emergencies, Road Closings, Bid Notices and other Somerset County documents, including agendas, minutes, press releases, and more.

"As more and more of our residents look to the Internet for information, we're pleased to be able to provide this very popular email-subscription service," said Freeholder Director Peter S. Palmer. "We have made good use of GovDelivery not only to relay routine announcements, such as new senior center programs, but also to send urgent messages like we did recently during a weekend flood emergency."
