ATP to Hold "EarthDrive for Earth Day" Contest to Celebrate Earth Day 2008

ATP, a leading manufacturer of high performance flash and DRAM memory, announces that it is to host "EarthDrive for Earth Day" Contest throughout the month of April in celebration of Earth Day on April 22. The contest calls for imaginative entries from grade school, high school and college students to submit personal stories on what they do and how they plan to help enhance and support the environment.

Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) March 18, 2008 -- ATP, a leading manufacturer of high performance flash and DRAM memory, announces that it is to host "EarthDrive for Earth Day" Contest throughout the month of April in celebration of Earth Day on April 22. The contest calls for imaginative entries from grade school, high school and college students to submit personal stories on what they do and how they plan to help enhance and support the environment.

"Leading up to Earth Day celebration on April 22, we are reaching out to students and asking them to tell us what they have done or what they will do to help the environment around them," said Michael Plaksin, ATP Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Not only will the contest encourage students to think more of the environment and to be more eco-friendly, we will also discover that being green starts with each one of us doing the simplest things to enrich the planet and our daily lives."

Stories can be submitted to earthdrive@atpinc.com starting from April 1 through April 30, which will be judged upon several criteria including creativity and originality. Grand prize winners will receive $1,000 scholarships toward their education. Several runner-ups will also be chosen to receive the ATP EarthDrive, the world's first eco-friendly, recyclable USB drive.

"Every little action to be more environmentally friendly creates a positive global impact," said Plaksin. "We want this contest to be both fun and educational not only for the participants, but also for the rest of us, who will be able to understand the thoughts, actions and intentions of today's proactive student body."

Project: EarthDrive, a partnership with American Forests, was recently initiated as ATP's mission to help with environmental restoration efforts. With each EarthDrive sold, ATP and American Forests will be planting trees both on a national and global basis to protect, restore, and enhance the natural capital of trees and forests. A mature tree can produce as much oxygen in a season as 10 people inhale in a year.

The ATP EarthDrive is manufactured using revolutionary new bio-recycled materials. In addition to being fully recyclable, the EarthDrive retains durability features unique to ATP flash memory products. Built with ATP's SIP (System-In-Package) technology, all vital flash components are completely protected from water, dust, and shock. The EarthDrive packaging is also made of recycled paper and recyclable materials.

EarthDrive is available through ATP distribution and retail channels such as Costco.com, Virgin Megastores, and Walmart.com in 2GB to 8GB densities with MSRP ranging from $29.99 to $99.99.
