Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 25, 2008 -- Ford Motor Company agreed to an out-of-court settlement of an automobile defect claim involving a fatal Ford Explorer rollover accident. Charlotte Pollock sued Ford for the death of her husband, John Pollock. The settlement agreement requires that the settlement amount remain "Confidential." California automobile defect law firm Bisnar Chase represented Charlotte in Superior Court of California, Riverside County, Case Number RIC 471524.

On August 13, 2005, John Pollock was driving his 1998 Ford Explorer westbound on Domenigoni Parkway in Riverside, California. His wife, Charlotte, was a passenger in the vehicle and both were properly restrained. When the Ford Explorer began drifting off the roadway, John Pollock turned the steering wheel to correct its path. The Ford Explorer then went out of control, rolling over several times. During the rollover, the roof collapsed, causing such traumatic head injuries to John Pollock that he died at the scene.

According to the lawsuit, Ford knowingly designed and manufactured the Ford Explorer with an inadequate roof structure which is prone to collapse in a rollover accident. Had Ford designed the Explorer with adequate roof strength, John Pollock would not have died, according to the lawsuit.

"How many wrongful death rollover accident lawsuits will Ford endure before they equip all of their SUVs with stability control systems to prevent rollovers and adequate roof structures to prevent catastrophic roof collapse?" asks Brian Chase, the lead attorney for Charlotte Pollock. "For a couple hundred dollars Ford could prevent these types of tragedies. Rollover accidents claim 10,000 lives a year in the U.S."
