(PRWEB) March 20, 2008 -- HaiVision Systems Inc. (Montreal, Canada), the world's leading vendor of performance H.264 network video encoders, announces that the European Commission (EC) has selected and installed HaiVision's hai1000 high performance telepresence codecs for remote simultaneous interpretation. The EC for many years has been seeking network video devices and videoconferencing tools that enable interpreters to work with remote participants. The unique qualities of the hai1000 have satisfied their very rigorous requirements.

In order for interpreters to perform their tasks over long periods of time without undue strain, they must have access to immediate and precise audio and video. The audio and video must be delivered in absolute synchronization with the lowest latency. The audio must be virtually noise free and have wideband frequency response in order to service the many varied European languages. The hai1000 multi-stream codec has been selected as it exactly meets these demands in addition to delivering four unique audio channels.

Initially installed in a test bed between facilities within adjacent building in Brussels, the hai1000 network within the EC is being expanded to incorporate facilities in Luxembourg and other EC centers. Such conferencing facilities are not only convenient for those who cannot travel and for ad-hoc meetings, but are critical in planning for crisis event response.

"The interpreters do not have tolerance for anything short of perfect audio/video transmission," expresses Mirko Wicha, HaiVision's CEO. "Their ultimate acceptance of the HaiVision solution is the result of years of investigation, testing, and trials with the interpreters."

The hai1000 multi-stream system is the predominant codec within telepresence systems deployed globally within fortune 100 companies. The new MAKO-HD codec for the hai1000 delivers full frame rate high definition (HD) video with an unprecedented 70 milliseconds of end to end latency.

Plan to see HaiVision and the MAKO-HD at NAB booth SU11626.
