This week, Eric Baker, CEO of viagogo (http://www.viagogo.co.uk), Europe's leading online secondary ticket exchange, won the Technology CEO of the Year prize at the 2008 UK Technology Innovation and Growth Awards.

Eric Baker was also nominated as a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year at the ceremony in central London on Tuesday 18 March. The awards, now in their ninth year, recognise those individuals and organisations that drive the success of the UK's fastest growing technology companies.

The judging panel recognised Eric's exceptional leadership of viagogo and efforts in helping to legitimise the secondary ticketing marketplace and noted, "By applying his expertise in the ticketing industry, viagogo has helped bring consumers the benefits of a safer, more secure way of buying tickets. Through the application of viagogo's technology, Eric has addressed a real world problem and made the lives of music lovers and football fans considerably more pleasant to boot. What is more, he has forged major contracts with some of the world's strongest brands, a key ambition for a CEO in any sector."

This is the latest in a line of successes for viagogo since it launched in August 2006. The company has pioneered secondary ticketing in Europe and is now the leading force in the multi-billion pound industry.
