McCulley/Cuppan announced today the launch of their business blog: Knowledge Management and Communication in the Life Sciences. The blog is dedicated to exploring the realm of authorship and the task of creating and managing knowledge in the world of life science research and development. The blog is designed to explore and discuss tools and strategies for improving the quality of knowledge management and the communication of research in the life sciences.

About the McCulley/Cuppan Business Blog
The blog is an extension of the work McCulley/Cuppan has done for the past 15+ years in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. The blog address is: http://brain.brainery.net/mcblog.

The blog focuses on the development and dissemination of the intellectual work created in life science research organizations. Blog posts and discussions will be centered on how this intellectual work can be developed, incorporated into documents, and shared in ways that are more systematic, effective, and predictable than is currently the case. This blog will discuss the major problems associated with collaboratively developing research designs and effectively applying this knowledge to the authoring of high quality business critical documents like research reports and regulatory submission documentation. Some of the topics the blog will focus on include: the use of tools to support knowledge elicitation and high quality authorship; collaborative development of highly structured documents and other document creation work practices; and enhancing document review work practices to speed up the creation of high quality documents.

"We believe now is the right time to launch this blog," commented Gregory Cuppan, co-manager of the blog and a partner in McCulley/Cuppan LLC. "The challenges and concerns with the management and application of knowledge in the R&D world of the life sciences just continue to grow. So, we wanted to create a platform where our clients, scientists working in the biopharmaceutical and medical device industries, and experts working in knowledge management and communication can come together to explore ideas regarding knowledge management and the communication of complex ideas in collaboratively-developed documents; especially documents intended for regulatory submissions. We will draw heavily upon our connections in the academic community to pull forward for discussion interesting ideas and concepts that can have direct application in the R&D workplace."
