ROI Calculator from WellSteps Shows How Worksite Wellness Programs Lower Employee Health Care Costs

The best available science on the financial impact of worksite wellness programs has been combined into a free ROI calculator. Any worksite can use its own health care cost data to estimate the impact of an effective employee wellness program. The calculator is based on dozens of published validation studies.

Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) March 25, 2008 -- Under the constant burden of increasing health care costs worksites want to implement worksite wellness programs, but aren’t sure these programs are cost effective. WellSteps has used the published return on investment (ROI) literature to create an easy to use worksite wellness ROI calculator.

The ROI calculator has the capability to project what will happen to a company's health care costs over the next several years. It can project how much a company could save by decreasing the percentage of employees who smoke or who are obese. The calculator can further project the health care cost savings after the worksite implements a low, medium, or high intensity wellness program. Though the calculator was created from published validation studies, it only provides estimates and should not be used to produce performance guarantees.

As health care costs continue to strangle worksites, business leaders should use the calculator to forecast the impact an effective worksite wellness program can have on future health care cost trends. Dr. David Hunnicutt, president of the Wellness Councils of America says, "WellSteps has used the scientific literature to create a financial tool that overcomes one of the biggest hurdles employers face: lack of financial evidence that employee wellness improves the bottom line."

With this announcement, WellSteps enters the worksite wellness marketplace as the first worksite wellness company to offer a tool of this kind. The tool was created by Steven Aldana, Ph.D., one of the nation's foremost authorities on healthy living and author of best sellers The Culprit and The Cure, and Troy Adams, Ph.D., a nationally known health and wellness researcher and practitioner.

Worksites can find the ROI calculator and other free tools at www.WellSteps.com by clicking on "Tools".
