Washington, DC (PRWEB) March 27, 2008
Social networking website AnimalAttraction.com today announced a groundbreaking program with four of the country's leading animal welfare organizations that combines the power of AnimalAttraction's online community and the passion of animal welfare supporters to help pets in need.
The ASPCA, Best Friends Animal Society, North Shore Animal League America and The Petfinder Foundation will promote AnimalAttraction.com in more than one million (1,000,000) emails per month and receive a $1 donation for each FREE registration they refer. Each member who joins will then be able to raise more money for their charity by referring their friends ($1 for each friend referred) and by logging-in to the site ($.01 for each day logged-in). AnimalAttraction is committing a minimum of $100,000 to its charity partners in what is believed to be the first program in which the owners of a social networking website, rather than the members themselves, will donate money to charity for FREE member participation.
"We're thrilled to join paws with these leading animal welfare organizations to provide a fun, safe, free and easy-to-use online community for pet lovers while also helping pets in need. It's a simple, yet powerful program. We're bringing an extremely passionate group of people together to have fun while helping pets." said Dan Cohen, Founder & President of AnimalAttraction.com.
"North Shore Animal League America is extremely excited to partner with AnimalAttraction, the leading online community for pet lovers. Thousands of our supporters have already registered on AnimalAttraction's free site, which will bring much needed funds and awareness to support our mission of saving pets' lives through adoption, rescue, spay/neuter and public education." said North Shore Animal League America President John Stevenson.
AnimalAttraction.com (http://www.animalattraction.com), "The Place For Pet Lovers", provides Facebook-like features and functionality for pet lovers to create profiles both themselves, AND THEIR PETS, and connect with each other in an online community created by and for pet lovers exclusively. The site was founded in 2004 by Dan Cohen, a former sports marketing executive with The Washington Redskins, Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals, and has a membership base of nearly 100,000. Members send "Pet Pal Invites" to each other, post comments to each others' profiles using the "Scratch Pad" feature and send virtual tokens of affection to each others' pets: "Belly Rubs" for dogs; "Chin Scratches" for cats and "Beak Pettings" for birds. In addition to social networking tools, AnimalAttraction provides pet-themed information and entertainment in the form of pet care tips, ask-the-expert columns, a pet blog, monthly photo contest, forums and live chat rooms.
