Poker Source Online's popular Diamond and Hearts Winter leagues have come to an end, with over $5,000 distributed among the league winners, bounty winners and even randomly chosen winners. First places were secured by players "onemnblitz" and "montrealphil."

We have some exciting new changes for the next league that will keep players interested and draw new players in. We're also going to have more awesome prizes to be won, but you can only win if you play.

The chips are down for the Poker Source Online Diamond and Hearts Winter Poker Leagues, and "onemnblitz" and "montrealphil" have secured the top prizes, which included 30,0000 PSO points and an entry into the PokerStars Sunday Million, an additional $215 value. Each of these players had to face around 100 worthy contestants across 10 tourneys for the prize.

League Director Chris "Kugr84" declared the Winter leagues a success. "This league was a lot of fun for everyone involved. We would like to congratulate first place winners 'montrealphil' and 'onemnblitz' as well as the nearly 200 players who joined the Winter leagues." Kugr84 explained that this year had been the first time they had to use the tie-breaking rule for a tie in the top 5: "One thing of note that happened is that for the first time we had a tie in the final 3 for the diamonds league. Although the rules establish a clear tie-breaker, we decided to give the player in the 4th place 6,000 PSO points as a consolation prize."

The PSO Leagues are popular among online players because of their flexible schedules, reasonably priced buy-ins and for the learning opportunities involved. Kugr84 explained: "We run 2 leagues, one at 3pm EST so our European players can participate and one at 9pm for the Western Hemisphere crowd, so they are convenient for anyone around the globe. They are also scheduled on every Sunday and alternating Wednesdays to make it easy for everyone to fit them into their schedule. The leagues are a big favorite among our players because most players are usually more than willing to go to the PSO forum and discuss and analyze hands after the tourneys; this is a great tool to improve your poker game."

PSO distributed over $5,000 in prizes after the Winter leagues: besides first place winners "onemnblitz" and "montrealphil," second places "k4e4n" and "kvo535" took home 20,000 PSO points, third places "ckw604" and "zenman" won 13,000 points, and player "jdblaze" got a consolation prize of 6,000 PSO points for tying in third place in the Diamonds league. Besides the official prizes, several players won 2,000 bounty prizes for knocking PSO staff out of any of the 20 tournaments, and 2 players were chosen randomly out of every tournament to win another 2,000 PSO points; player "Hontis" was lucky enough to win the random prize 3 times. PSO points are an attractive reward for online players because of their flexibility -they never expire and can be combined to purchase any item from the PSO Store.

The League director looks forward to the upcoming Spring League, which is bound to start on early April in Poker Stars at a yet undisclosed date. "We have some exciting new changes for the next league that will keep players interested and draw new players in. We're also going to have more awesome prizes to be won, but you can only win if you play."
