Unique Door Access Control Solution is Easier and More Secure

Smarter Security Systems, provider of intelligent entrance control and outdoor security solutions, today announced the availability of the new Fastlane Door Detective. In response to the market's changing needs, the new Door Detective is now easier to install, has expanded access control functionality, and adds further security features.

Door Detective, a cost-effective way to secure critical access-controlled doors and prevent tailgating, sets the standard in doorway entrance control, featuring microprocessors programmed with neural network software. Once an access control system grants access to a user and unlocks a door, active infrared beams from door-mounted enclosures monitor how many people pass through the doorway and in what direction. Alarms identify violations and Fastlane's technology virtually eliminates false alarms that are more common in competitors' systems.

The improvements involve installation, flexibility, and security enhancements. Already easy to install, the new Door Detective now has a simple CAT 5 interconnect between the two enclosures for even more efficient installation. The new Door Detective also has a separate input that connects with an entry phone system. This allows multiple receptionist-authorized visitors to pass through without alarm, making it more suitable for doors in lobbies of smaller organizations that frequently have visitors. To top off the added features, the new Door Detective also has more infrared beams to better detect attempts to crawl under it.

"Door Detective is unmatched in its ability to accurately identify and help prevent unauthorized passage through any access-controlled door," said Jeff Brown, President of Smarter Security. "As threats continue to multiply and organizations move to adopt more sophisticated security measures, such as biometric technologies, Door Detective makes perfect sense. It is truly the missing link in access control, as the open door is a substantial weak point in the security of many organizations."

At ISC West 2008, taking place in Las Vegas from April 2-4, Smarter Security will demonstrate Door Detective in conjunction with a biometric access control system from Bioscrpyt, an enterprise access control solution provider. The integration of the two technologies on a doorway will provide a hands-on experience with how it could work in any environment.

Door Detective is currently being used to secure doors and prevent unauthorized access to data centers, records storage areas, R&D labs, health clubs, and other environments where security is critical or intruders can cause material financial damage.
