Madison, Wisconsin (PRWEB) March 30, 2008
The 12th of March saw Australia's Mil Lel Superior Parmesan achieve Best in Class at the 27th Biennial World Champion Cheese Contest in Madison, Wisconsin.
This great Australian parmesan took top points in Class 19 (Parmesan) against all other comers in this prestigious competition.
Held every two years, the competition is hailed by its organisers as the world's largest international cheese contest. This year, it had a panel of more than 20 expert judges from a variety of countries around the world. They certainly had their work cut out for them judging cheese and butter in 79 different classes over three days.
Mil Lel Superior Parmesan is just one of the multi-award winning range from Australia's Dairy Farmers Co-operative. The others include Romantina, Chilli Romantina, Pepato and Romano.
The entire range is created using traditional methods, including hand turning as part of the aging process, in the rural area of Simpson in the state of Victoria amongst some of Australia's finest dairy country.
Mil Lel Superior Parmesan is no stranger to awards both domestic and abroad with a steady stream of accolades for more than a decade including Gold at last year's Dairy Industry of Australia Awards. Mil Lel Superior Romano also recently won the prestigious Australian Grand Dairy Award for Champion Hard Cheese for the second year in a row.
Miil Lel Superior Parmesan's versatility makes it a fantastic cheese not just for shaving over pasta (although it's ideal for that too), but also as in ingredient for cooking in pizzas and other dishes. In addition to cooking, Mil Lel Superior Parmesan is delicious as a table cheese and a surprising feature on a cheese plate.
