Austin, TX (PRWEB) March 31, 2008
HBF Group, Inc. announced today that it will provide its 9-1-1 capabilities to Covad Communications, a leading national provider of integrated voice and data communications. HBF Group, Inc.'s E9-1-1 service, known as i-911™, addresses deficiencies in other commercially available solutions by providing public safety answering points (PSAPs) with the callback number and location information of an emergency call -- in real time. This service also facilitates nomadic users (including soft clients) and non-native telephone numbers.
Integration of i-911 will enable Covad to provide its VoIP customers with the coverage and functionality they expect to receive when making a 9-1-1 call. The service is being integrated with Covad's data infrastructure and leverages NENA's (National Emergency Number Association) I2 standards to deliver the information needed to dispatch help, even in a situation where the caller cannot speak or is disconnected. As an additional measure of safety, emergency calls can be routed through HBF's i-911 Safety Response Center, which is staffed around the clock with trained agents.
"HBF is North America's premier E9-1-1 technology provider," said Jake Heinz, Covad vice president and general manager of VoIP services. "We are pleased to partner with them in the continual enhancement of our voice offerings."
"Advanced solutions for providing enhanced 9-1-1 are paramount for VoIP service providers such as Covad," added Jim Shepard, Executive Vice President at HBF. "We are pleased to provide Covad with a solution that supports evolving 9-1-1 standards and regulations, while also enabling new product offerings."
HBF Group, Inc. is the 9-1-1 technology leader providing cutting edge solutions to the 9-1-1 industry.
