Walking Tours of the Flags of the United Nations Member States Begin in New York

Flagman Pete Tours has begun offering public and private Tours of the Flags of the Member States of the United Nations in New York, the only tour company to provide this original, informative and entertaining tour.

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 23, 2008 -- Flagman Pete Tours has begun offering public and private Tours of the Flags of the Member States of the United Nations in New York, the only tour company to provide this original, informative and entertaining tour.

New York is a multi-ethnic and global city. Its unique, international character is reflected in the diversity and majesty of the flags of the Member States of the United Nations, on display alongside UN Headquarters in mid-town Manhattan and many of which are also frequently flown around Rockefeller Center Plaza, off Fifth Avenue.

A flag is more than just a patriotic symbol. Each has its own particular story, often representing special aspects of the history and geography of a nation. They are raised at important national and international ceremonies, they are flown over important government buildings and are often worn or carried by proud athletes after winning major sporting events. Some people also like to carry them up very high mountains, placing them in triumph at the summit when they get there. And Neill Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin even put one on the moon.

From Afghanistan to Turkmenistan, The Gambia to Zambia, Flagman Pete, a former UN diplomat himself, conducts these one-of-a-kind whirlwind, walking tours. Flagman Pete identifies the many different Flags, describing a bit about some of the countries 'behind' them, for what they are best known and which famous individuals and celebrities call them home. All this accompanied by Flagman Pete's trademark sense of humor and fun along the way! Interesting trivia, little-known facts and even some of his own original insights into the UN itself -- Flagman Pete brings it all together, and gets everyone involved, in his informative Famous Flags of the United Nations Tour.

No one brings the United Nations to life the way Flagman Pete does. With his interactive walking tour of all the flags of the UN Member States, everyone leaves an authority in world affairs. Flagman Pete's enthusiasm for the UN and its Member State Flags is original, contagious and just plain fun -- this is one tour you're not going to want to miss when you're in the Big Apple.

Flags, with their vivid colors and designs, capture the imagination and curiosity of kids in a way that more formal cultural exhibitions and museums often cannot. Flagman Pete's Fun Flags of the UN Quiz is an integral part of Flagman Pete's Class and Kids' Tours. The Quiz is a great way for kids to make the most of their time on the Tour, encouraging them to pay attention, learn some geography, history & world affairs and have fun, all at the same time. Clipboards with this Fun Quiz are distributed at the beginning of the Tour and answers are shared at the end. Teachers and parents are also welcome to join in.

Flagman Pete is also pleased to offer a special version of his Flags of the UN Tour to Pre-Schoolers (3-5).

Flagman Pete's Tours are approximately 45 minutes in length and may be scheduled/reserved Monday-Friday at United Nations Headquarters and Monday-Sunday at the Rockefeller Center, off Fifth Avenue.

Class, Kids, Corporate and Private Group Tours may be booked separately.

Go toe-to-toe with Flagman Pete. Put your knowledge to the test. How many flags do you know?
