AGS Launches RealityMobile 3D Visualisation for Personal Navigation Devices and Mobile Applications
AGS's RealityMobile API, Texas Instruments' OMAP3430 processor and Tele Atlas® 3D city data provide advanced 3D visualisation capability for navigation software and hardware manufactures.
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) April 1, 2008 -- Advanced Geospatial Solutions (AGS), the leading 3D visualisation solution provider, today announces the launch of its advanced 3D visualisation software API, RealityMobile, at the CTIA Wireless 2008 in Las Vegas. This API, coupled with Texas Instruments' high-performance, low-power consumption OMAP™ 3 applications processors and Tele Atlas® 3D city data, will allow software and hardware manufacturers to embed 3D visualisation into their navigation and mobile products, creating a more compelling navigation user experience.
The advanced visualisation capability of RealityMobile allows highly-detailed 3D mapping, display of city landmarks and buildings, roads, points of interest (POI's), navigation routing information and full terrain with overlaid imagery (aerial or satellite). The display can be fully customised by the manufacturer (via the API) and is scalable, with display range capability from 1km, to more than 50km. RealityMobile uses the high-performance OpenGL® ES capability of TI's OMAP3430 processor 3D hardware graphics accelerator to enhance the visual experience, while maintaining longer battery life.
"The demand for personal navigation devices to provide more compelling 3D display capabilities to the consumer is growing exponentially worldwide," said Gary Pallett, General Manager of AGS. "By leveraging the performance of TI's OMAP3430 processor, we can deliver enhanced, life-like 3D graphics, which not only provide a more visually appealing product, but offer great benefits for ease of navigation, particularly in dense city areas, in a wide range of mobile devices."
"3D mapping technology is revolutionizing the personal navigation experience by way of enhanced, life-like graphics," said Markus Tremmel, worldwide wireless ecosystem manager, TI. "Location based applications leveraging TI's high-performance, power-efficient OMAP3430 processor and NaviLink™ 5.0 single-chip GPS solution allows our partners to add value to their products with affordable embedded personal navigation systems in mobile devices for on-the-go consumers."
RealityMobile is provided as an API (with full SDK and sample applications) and is currently available for Windows Mobile and Linux platforms, with Symbian and Java platform support expected to be available in Q2 2008. It can integrate with existing and new 3D/2D mapping datasets from leading map data suppliers.
AGS is a member of TI's OMAP Developer Network, a group of leading software developers porting advanced applications to TI's high performance, power-efficient OMAP processors. Handset manufacturers adopting OMAP devices enjoy the rapid deployment of compelling wireless applications -- including streaming audio and video, multimedia messaging, gaming, security, speech recognition, location based services and mobile commerce -- across all leading operating systems. Systems level integration services are also provided worldwide by independent OMAP Technology Centers. The OMAP platform has been selected by leading manufacturers, such as Nokia, Palm, NEC, Fujitsu, LG Electronics, Hewlett-Packard, Sendo, HTC and many more, for their 2.5 and 3G wireless devices.
