Winnipeg, Canada (PRWEB) April 1, 2008
An appeal for the best kitchen & bath cabinet designs across North America resulted in resounding success for the 2008 Elite Design Awards contest. The new competition, sponsored by the Decor Cabinet Company in Canada, brought in over 1,000 photo submissions from Portland to Chicago and Denver to Canada earlier this year.
"This is the first time we have sponsored a contest of this magnitude and we were thrilled with both the number of entries and their quality," says Stan Pauls, Vice-President of Sales & Marketing of Decor, "Our designers' enthusiastic response far exceeded our expectations."
Jim Krengel, former president of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (1989-1990) and Certified Master Kitchen and Bath Designer (CMKBD), was the lead judge in the contest and was equally pleased with this inaugural competition, "It was a genuine pleasure to be the final judge for the entries in Decor's Elite Design Awards. I was truly impressed with both the quality and the quantity of the entries and making the final decision in each category was more difficult than I had
envisioned."
The contest spanned six categories of design projects using Decor cabinetry including Traditional Kitchen, Rustic/Lodge Kitchen, Transitional Kitchen, Contemporary Kitchen, Master Bathroom and Other Rooms. Krengel and the judging panel assessed the design submissions based on visual/aesthetics and appeal; creativity; elements and principles of design; floor plan arrangement, and safety.
"Using the judging criteria that I had developed for this contest resulted in several ties necessitating that I re-visit those projects and re-judge even more critically," explains Krengel, "The designers that participated should be congratulated on their work."
Established to celebrate stellar achievements in North American kitchen and bath design, the 2008 Elite Design Awards will be presented to the 21 top winners (below) and their respective dealers at the 2008 K/BIS Decor Dealear Breakfast.
