Laughing Gas: Rotten Rhymes and Scraps of Hot Air is a Crazy Collection of Poems for the "Rotten Kid" Everywhere

Tomfoolery is sure to follow with poems entitled: Naked as a Jaybird, Pull My Finger!, Going Commando! and Wedgie War.

(PRWEB) April 4, 2008 -- Imagine the level of silliness when a poem entitled Peas runs something like this: "I don't know why I hate them, There's no reason, I suppose, They even come in perfect size, For sticking up your nose." Laughing Gas, no question, is a book for fun-loving, irreverent kids -- and also a book for the parents of fun-loving, irreverent kids. It's the kind of book best read on a summer's day in a treehouse, where there are no girls -- or maybe even no boys -- allowed.

The poetry itself is hugely inventive, thanks to Glassford's quick wit and thoroughly charming way with words. The book is also beautifully, quirkily illustrated. Lach's creative artwork is a perfect match for Glassford's poetry -- it literally brings Laughing Gas to colourful life.

And, just to ensure that there is no misunderstanding about the contents of Laughing Gas, the book comes with a tongue-in-cheek warning from the author: "The poems in this book may cause uncontrollable giggling, snorfing, and making sounds that are considered highly inappropriate for well-behaved boys and girls." And these poems, the author suggests, "should never be discussed at Grandma's dinner table."

Glassford comes by this stuff honestly. As she herself says, she couldn't make a living by picking her nose, or by playing in mud, so she had to go with her third choice -- writing rotten rhymes for rotten little kids.

And since becoming a mom, she says, "I find there's no shortage of rotten kids doing rotten things to inspire me."
The result is Laughing Gas -- a book for rotten young kids of all ages.
