Secure Elements’ C5 Compliance Platform Procured for Use by the 27 President’s Management Agenda (PMA) Scorecard Agencies in Support of Federal Desktop Core Configuration (FDCC) Reporting Deadlines
Contract provides PMA Scorecard reporting agencies with SCAP Validated FDCC Scanning Solution to assist agencies with OMB directive M-07-11 reporting requirements.
Herndon, VA (PRWEB) April 4, 2008 -- Secure Elements, the industry leader in standards-based IT audit and compliance management, today announced the company has been awarded a government-wide contract to provide the C5 Compliance Platform to all 27 Scorecard reporting agencies. Under the terms of the GSA FDCC contract, Secure Elements will provide, through its reseller partner FedResults, licenses and focused FDCC training to support OMB reporting requirements. The C5 Compliance Platform is the leading solution across the federal markets, and is the first SCAP validated solution for FDCC scanning of both Microsoft XP and Vista operating systems,
To improve information security and reduce overall IT operating costs, the Office of Management and Budget ("OMB") issued a policy last year requiring agencies using or acquiring Windows XP and Vista to adopt the Federal Desktop Core Configuration by February 1, 2008 (OMB Memorandum M-07-11 of March 22, 2007). This policy is consistent with the Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, which requires agencies to continuously monitor and ensure compliance with minimally acceptable security configurations when acquiring information technology.
"Measurement and scoring of the FDCC in support of the initial OMB reporting requirements are just the beginning of the longer term benefits the government will receive," said Scott Armstrong, Vice President of Marketing & Alliances at Secure Elements. "Our solution enables government agencies to continuously monitor, measure and score their IT assets across the entire organization. This improves real-time visibility into an organization’s security posture and automates what previously could only be attempted manually. In addition, the C5 Compliance Platform supports auditing of server configurations and automation of much of the FISMA reporting process. In the coming months when the government publishes authoritative SCAP based guidance for server class systems such as Microsoft Windows Server, Linux/RedHat, Unix/Solaris, our customers will be already positioned to meet these requirements."
"The FDCC Scanning contract represents another major milestone in the evolution of the government security automation standards being driven by OMB, NIST, NSA, DoD and DHS," said Ned Miller, CEO at Secure Elements. "We are very pleased to be able to support the Presidents Management Agenda for each of the Scorecard Agencies, and look forward to supporting these exciting and rapidly accelerating federal cyber-security initiatives."
