Napa Valley Winery Owner Starts New Business, Petit Luxe, to Stay Home with Son
Not a celebrity, not a socialite, just an entrepreneurial mother from the world famous Napa Valley who loves fashion, style and her family.
Napa Valley, CA (PRWEB) April 5, 2008 -- Napa Valley winery owner, Carolyn Corley Burgess, created a new web based business, Petit Luxe, so that she could stay home and raise her son. PetitLuxe.com, which launched in March, is an on-line boutique offering an edited collection of handpicked designer and luxury clothing and accessories for babies, children and women. Influenced by Carolyn's intercontinental upbringing, most of the lines available at Petit Luxe are from designers with European backgrounds or are directly imported from Europe.

Burgess grew up in a wine family in Saint Helena, the heart of Napa Valley, where her family owns Monticello Vineyards, Domain Montreaux and Burgess Cellars. Her mother was born and raised in Scotland, and both parents shared a love of travel, so Carolyn began exploring the globe at a young age and spending her holidays abroad. She traveled around the world by the time she was nine and credits that exposure for what has shaped her tastes and style. Her childhood was a mixture of world travel, Yorkshire pudding, winery work, afternoon tea, camping, national equestrian competitions, gardening, black-tie affairs, mischief, kilts, books, shepherd's pie, antiquing, fish and chips, and getting dirty in the vineyards.
Upon graduating from college, Burgess returned to the Napa Valley to work with her family's businesses in all aspects ranging from cellar duties to dinners at the famed Napa Valley Wine Auction. In 2004 she married Napa Valley native and longtime love, Jim Burgess, whose family owns Burgess cellars. Shortly after their son Thatcher was born in early 2007, Carolyn decided that in lieu of returning to the industry in which she had been raised that she would embark on a new adventure -- one that would embrace her passions and allow her to be home with her son.
Burgess says, "Petit Luxe was born from my love of timeless and classic fashions, divine materials, European simplicity, childhood innocence, heirloom craftsmanship and above all, my son." The eclectic collection of products from around the world found at petitluxe.com are those from designers who represent her sense of aesthetics and style.
