Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) April 5, 2008 -- Jeffrey Hillard, associate professor of English at the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio, has started a new, quarterly, online magazine, RED! Webzine (www.redwebzine.org), "the breakthrough 'zine," which provides journalistic stories of transformation and positive life changes in the lives of inmates in prisons and jails internationally and in the lives of formerly incarcerated individuals. Also, innovative people, programs, and ministries dedicated to fostering these transformations are profiled.
RED! also features columns, podcasts, organization listings, reviews, and interviews of people working on transformative programs and initiatives in prisons and jails, as well as writing and art work by inmates experiencing positive life changes and by formerly incarcerated individuals now making a difference in their re-entry into society.
One department in RED! Webzine focuses solely on news and profiles of individuals associated with the highly unique and innovative course, The Psychology of Incarceration, which is taught in prisons, jails, and communities. The course has demonstrably helped incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals experience positive transformation and inspired them to embrace new, positive life choices.
The webzine is based in Cincinnati, Ohio. The spring 2008 issue features a range of stories, including the story of a man wrongfully-incarcerated for 25 years who, during that time, devoted much of his time helping other inmates with their educational and social needs. Released several years ago, he died suddenly in March, 2007. The spring issue also features stories on the world's largest pen friend organization for inmates and a portrait of an inner city public school and the school principal's strategy for addressing needs of incarcerated and recently incarcerated students.
