Intel Selects Seneca Data to Offer Custom Notebooks Based on Rich Creek 2 Platform

Seneca Data will be an Intel first-to-market provider of custom notebooks based on Intel's Rich Creek 2 platform; a new mobile platform for custom systems makers. Rich Creek 2 enables Seneca Data to offer resellers and their notebook customers a more flexible set of component choices, providing the same type of parts interchangeability available in the desktop market.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) April 8, 2008 -- Seneca Data will be an Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) first-to-market provider of custom notebooks based on Intel's Rich Creek 2 platform; a new mobile platform for custom systems makers announced at the Intel Solutions Summit in Las Vegas.

Rich Creek 2 features an expanded set of standards-based components for building custom notebooks. These include mobile boards and enclosures, as well as hard disk drives, optical drives, keyboards, displays, batteries, and more. Previously, build to order notebooks were preconfigured with a basic shell consisting of the display and motherboard. Rich Creek 2 enables Seneca Data to offer resellers and their notebook customers a more flexible set of component choices, providing the same type of parts interchangeability available in the desktop market. With notebooks now out shipping desktop computers in many areas of the world, industry experts say a completely customized notebook combined with local service and support represents one of the most important new market opportunities for the channel in 2008.

With Rich Creek 2, this is the first time the VAR community will have a top-to-bottom customizable notebook including a choice of mobile boards and shell designs
"With Rich Creek 2, this is the first time the VAR community will have a top-to-bottom customizable notebook including a choice of mobile boards and shell designs," said Steve Maser, Seneca Data Vice President of Product Development and Marketing. "These systems are also designed to facilitate easy access to the LCD, motherboard, and other key components; so they are more easily serviced on location by the reseller," Maser said.

Seneca Data will be one among the first Rich Creek 2 providers and is demonstrating at the Intel Solutions Summit a pre-production sample notebook based on the new Intel platform. A leading Intel Mobile Channel Leader, Seneca Data is simultaneously announcing this week three new custom notebooks, (http://www.senecadata.com/hotnews.aspx?id=108) including one of the first based on Intel® Centrino® with vPro™ technology.

Notebooks featuring Rich Creek 2 will be available 2H 2008.
