One Good Boycott Deserves Another

Chinese Group Calling for Boycott of French Goods In Response to Talk of French Boycott of Olympics and French protestors Trying to Extinguish Olympic Flame

(PRWEB) April 8, 2008 -- A group of Chinese citizens is taking to the Internet and asking the almost 1.4 billion Chinese people worldwide to boycott French goods. The group, hosting a site at http://www.NoFrench.ning.com, is responding to the public statements made recently by the French President and Foreign Minister regarding their possible boycott of the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics and this week's interruption by French protestors of the Olympic torch relay in Paris.

NoFrench.ning.com calls the French officials "hypocritical," pointing out that the French President was happy get a $30 billion trade deal with China just 4 months ago. He then turns around and makes public threats against China. The site points out these actions "..hurt the feelings of Chinese around the world."

They also condemn the behavior in Paris on Monday as protestors disrupted the Olympic torch relay and caused the torch to be put out. The site call the attack by French protestors on the Olympic flame "not in keeping with the spirit of the Olympic Games."

One member of the group said: "The Olympic Games are about the sports and the athletes. These French officials should be ashamed---trying to exploit the Olympic games for political gain. And the people of France should be ashamed to have the great tradition of the torch relay sabotaged in the streets of Paris."

Using the buying power of this huge group of consumers, NoFrench.ning.com says they will only call off the boycott request when the French President apologizes.

They encourage visitors to the site (which is written in English and Chinese, but not French), to post their opinions, sign an on-line petition and boycott all things French, "from French perfume and champagne to French fashion and French food."
