Entrepreneurs Scott and Laura Gurley have opened The Teachers' Lounge, an innovative new retail teachers' supply store in St. Louis, Missouri. The store is geared toward elementary school teachers as well as homeschool families and parents of elementary school students. The pair is particularly well-suited to the endeavor: Laura Gurley is a former elementary school teacher herself, and previously worked in an educational bookstore; Scott is a computer and systems expert with a background in marketing, design and web site programming. The husband-and-wife team began researching the idea of opening a parent/teacher store over a year ago and has spent countless hours determining the needs of teachers and parents in the area as well as researching products and vendors. Since opening on August 14, The Teachers' Lounge has developed a large and loyal customer base among St. Louis area schools, teachers and parents. There are plans to eventually franchise The Teachers' Lounge concept nationwide.
