"Ding Dong Mail" could eliminate the need to make multiple trips to the mailbox to see if mail has been delivered. The invention could reduce the amount of time that mail sits inside a mailbox, possibly reducing mail theft. The unit would be ideal for the elderly or individuals who have difficulty walking to a mailbox. The device would be easy to install and operate and feature a compact design.
The Ding Dong Mail would consist of a system that would feature a receiver and a transmitter. The rectangular transmitter would be mounted to a mailbox and would feature a round button. The receiver would be mounted inside a residence using hook and loop fasteners or it may be left free-standing. The receiver would feature a volume outlet, volume control, battery pack, power switch, low-battery indicator, reset button, indicator light and an alarm timer dial that would enable the user to preset the length of time the alarm will sound. The alarm may sound from five to 60 seconds. Following mail delivery, the mail carrier would press the button on the transmitter. The light on the receiver would blink until the reset button is pressed and the alarm sounds. The Ding Dong Mail could be producible in various sizes, materials and colors.
