PD-LD Introduces Raman Sources at 532 nm

New product offers visible Raman applications

Pennington, N.J. (PRWEB) April 14, 2008 -- PD-LD, Inc., the worldwide leader in Volume Bragg Grating® (VBG®) technology, has announced the debut of a new Raman laser source product that operates in the visible spectrum at 532nm. The innovative device bolsters PD-LD's already popular LuxxMaster® Raman Boxx™ product line and offers customers an excellent high power laser source at an economical price.

Like previous Raman spectrometers that operate in the 785 nm infrared range, PD-LD's new green Raman source offers a narrow line-width, high power, compact and a rugged design making it particularly suitable for portable instrument applications. The device's small size and simple interface makes it ideal for industrial, military and security applications.

The fiber-coupled device provides 50 mW, relying on PD-LD's patented VBG-stabilized 808 nm laser to pump a YAG crystal that has been frequency doubled to 532 nm. This exclusive PD-LD design helps the laser achieve higher stability in a narrow linewidth.

Raman spectroscopy is an ideal tool for chemical analysis due to its advantages over other analytical techniques. Typically, the laser source is the most expensive part of the system, but PD-LD's new green Raman offering couples VBG and LuxxMaster Raman Boxx technologies to provide an economical solution that delivers a smaller, more stable light source with a spectral bandwidth of less than 3 wave numbers.
