$30,000 Heads-Up Poker Match with Phil Hellmuth Heats Up this Weekend at UltimateBet.com
Final Four in UltimateBet's Heads-Up SmackDown Bracket of Champions battle it out for the chance to play poker sensation Phil Hellmuth for $30,000.
Miami, FL (PRWEB) April 11, 2008 -- Leading online poker site UltimateBet is putting its biggest pro, Phil Hellmuth, front and center in this weekend's Heads-Up SmackDown Bracket of Champions. And one talented Texas Hold'em player will win the chance to outsmart him in a game of online poker for $30,000.
The excitement follows nine months of epic head-to-head battles, played out in eight separate bracket competitions.
In July 2007, UltimateBet launched the first ever Heads-Up SmackDown series, a 64-player one-on-one poker tournament modeled after college basketball's bracket competition. Texas Hold'em fans competed over five weeks as the playing field narrowed itself down in half, all the way from 64 poker players to one. The winner of the first series walked away with a first place prize of $11,200, a limited edition Heads-Up SmackDown championship ring and entry into the coveted Heads-up Bracket of Champions.
Due to the overwhelming popularity of the online poker site's first heads-up bracket competition, the series was held an additional seven times with each player securing a spot in the Bracket of Champions.
Last Saturday, all eight champions faced off in fierce heads-up Texas Hold'em battles for the chance to play 11-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth for $30,000. With only four poker players surviving -- The-Captainn, Butternuts, Redbull77, and Fkthisup2 -- the field was immediately chopped in half and the final four had been determined.
This Saturday, those four players will be reseated at UltimateBet's online poker tables for what will likely amount to the second most intense heads-up match ever played on the site. The final two will then take a seat in online poker's most heated head-to-head competition on Sunday, April 13th at 2 p.m. ET and the ultimate Heads-Up SmackDown Bracket of Champions winner will be crowned.
But there's more than just Texas Hold'em pride on the line. On Sunday, April 13th at 5 p.m. ET, the winner of the final match will play Phil Hellmuth in a series of heads-up Texas Hold'em matches. If Hellmuth and the crowned winner are tied after two matches, the deciding tournament will be held on Wednesday, April 16th at 7 p.m. ET. If the Heads-Up SmackDown Bracket of Champions winner beats Phil Hellmuth in two matches, he'll secure $30,000.
