College Search Site, myUsearch.com, to Dedicate 10% of Profits to Scholarships
myUsearch, a college serach site, introduces the myUsearch Scholarship Program which will target students traditionally underserved by scholarship organizations.
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) April 15, 2008 -- Choosing a college is one of life's most important decisions and it's a tough decision to make. What if you could make this choice easier and raise money for scholarships at the same time? Now with myUsearch, you can.

myUsearch has announced that 10% of its profits will be directed to its scholarship program. You may be asking, is this just another marketing ploy? The answer is NO. myUsearch founder, Derek Kraus, has firsthand experience with the enormous impact a scholarship can have on a person's life. The only reason he had the opportunity to go to college, was because of a sports scholarship. Even with the scholarship, he still had to take on 25,000 dollars of debt.
"There are very few people that actually get full ride scholarships," says Kraus. "I had the highest scholarship available, but because I went to an NAIA school, I had to pay for my living expenses and still finished with a sizeable amount of debt. I don't know how the 'everyday' students do it."
Most scholarships are open only to the best athletes, the best students and a few other lucky people. The myUsearch scholarship program is specifically designed to help the 'everyday' students who are often left with very few options.
The company will initially offer scholarships to three types of traditionally underserved students:
1) Nontraditional students including working adults and adult first-time college seekers
2) Students pursuing emerging degrees including Graphic Design, Game Art and Design, Web Design and Multimedia, Computer Networking and Information Systems Security
3) Students attending nontraditional schools, such as online, vocational, technical and career colleges and universities
Not only will this scholarship program further myUsearch's philanthropic mission, but it will help the business as well. "Our college match isn't designed for the best students and the best athletes. Most of those students already know where they want to go to school", says Kraus. "We're focused on helping those students that aren't heavily recruited by the top colleges. The more students we can drive to our site, the more money we will have to offer 'everyday' scholarships. It's a win win."
To apply for the myUsearch scholarships, students must meet the requirements of the scholarships available and complete the myUsearch questionnaire. Further information about the scholarships can be found at http://www.myusearch.com/Public/Scholarships/index.cfm.
