xaitment's AI used on "Alarm for Cobra 11 - Crash Time" Game
xaitment and Synetic extend successful relationship to the Xbox®360 version of "Alarm for Cobra 11 - Crash Time" game.
Saarbruecken, Germany (PRWEB) April 15, 2008 -- xaitment GmbH, one of the leading developers and service providers of artificial intelligence for the games and simulation industries, announced today that Synetic - The Funfactory, a German game developer specializing in the creation of racing games, used xaitment's artificial intelligence on their latest title, the Xbox®360 version of "Alarm for Cobra 11 - Crash Time". The game, which is being published by RTL Games, is scheduled to release this Spring.
"Alarm for Cobra 11 - Crash Time" re-creates the vibrant, lively world of RTL's popular television series. Hundreds of cars and trucks, city streets, highways, traffic patterns, environments, stunts and crashes provide a hyper-realistic and challenging game for gamers, racing enthusiasts and fans of the TV series. To further create that realism, Synetic once again turned to xaitment and their artificial intelligence engine, the xaitEngine, which was used on the PC version of the game.
The xaitEngine handles all standard AI functionality, including pathfinding and simple AI behavior patterns such as movement. But while most other AI vendors stop there, the xaitEngine also handles more advanced AI. Such high-level AI can be found in the realistic interaction of the AI with its environment or the emotional intelligence of non-player characters (NPCs) in a game.
With "Alarm for Cobra 11 - Crash Time", the xaitEngine controls the detailed interaction and intricate interplay between hundreds of non-player cars and trucks and the environment in which they operate. For example, the AI not only tells a car to slow down at an intersection; it creates realistic driving behaviors even in stressful situations. Coupled with Shader 3.0 special effects and other new technologies, the XBox®360 version of the game promises hours of fun for gamers and other fans of racing games. In fact, critics of the PC version of the game ranked the Xbox®360 version even better, more innovative and much more fun than racing games from other well known developers.
Dr. Andreas Gerber, Group CEO of xaitment, is very happy about the extended cooperation with Synetic. "The faith that Synetic has in us reconfirms the fact that our product, our know-how and our commitment are meeting the needs of studios developing today's most compelling games. The PC version of "Alarm for Cobra 11 - Crash Time" earned a lot of positive recognition from critics. The XBox®360 version will raise that AI to an all-new level."
