H.M. Cragg Co. adds new COO position to oversee the service department and warehouse operation.
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) April 17, 2008 -- H.M. Cragg Co., the leading provider of Eaton Powerware UPS Solutions, today announces Jim Smiley as its Chief Operating Officer.
In this newly created position Smiley will oversee the service department and warehouse operations team. In addition, Smiley will provide guidance to the other departments within H.M. Cragg Co. and identify ways to enhance value to current customers as well as create additional value-added business opportunities.
Jim spent the majority of his 30-year career in the telecommunications industry at several Bell companies, AT&T and U S WEST. He rose through the ranks and held an officer position for eleven years. After leaving the telecom industry, Jim founded a consulting company where he focused on business assessment - figuring out what businesses were doing right and wrong. Then, focused on developing and executing plans to improve overall company performance. Among the entities he has worked with are:
- A trade and economic development entity working with the State of Minnesota (Advantage Minnesota)
- The Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities - consortium of the five private colleges in St. Paul (Hamline, Macalester, Augsburg, St. Catherine, and St. Thomas)
- Packaging Incorporated - distributor of nailing, stapling, and packaging materials
- Steele Fitness - mobile fitness business
In addition, Jim has also served on many for-profit and non-profit boards, both in the Twin Cities and other cities of past residence. He has been a board member of H.M. Cragg since July 2007.
