After delving into their archives, Movie Market have offered for sale a small selection of highly collectible vintage items including vintage posters, lobby sets, front of house sets, lobby cards and original photos and magazines.
The Parker brothers have been in the movie memorabilia business for some time so it is not surprising that their archives contain some very collectible and interesting items, from vintage posters, lobby sets, front of house sets, lobby cards and original photos and magazines. These archives have been opened up and they are now offering a small selection for sale on their Moviemarket.co.uk site.
The selection contains original vintage posters which Movie Market classes as for movies released prior to 1985. Original posters are posters that were released when the movie first came out. A re-release, also known as a re-issue, is a poster made when the movie was re-released after the original date. Originals and re-releases apparently cost more than reprints because they generally increase in value over time. Original and re-release posters offer the new collector a great hobby which can also be financially rewarding as well as a lot of fun.
Almost all original posters prior 1985 were pre-folded before being shipped for display and Movie Market grades each poster for sale according to is condition from: Mint - unused or virtually perfect condition; Near Mint - excellent condition with only very minor signs of wear; Very Good - minor signs of wear, maybe some small creases or stains; Good - average used condition, some minor creases or fading due to age and use; or Fair -some minor damage could include tears or rips.
The selection also includes Lobby Sets, which were once used in the US or UK to promote a movie in the Cinema, but were phased out in the mid 1990's by the major film distributors and are rarely now printed for distribution in the US. Lobby Cards are generally 8 scenes from a movie printed on heavy card stock measuring 14"x11".
Front of house sets are also included in the selection which are the original sets of eight different 10x8" scene stills that were used for display in UK movie theatres.
Lobby cards are also featured in the selection - original sets of eight different 14x11" cards depicting scenes from the movie, used for display in the US movie theatres to promote the film.
