Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) April 25, 2008. The Association of Virtual Worlds is proud to announce a first of its kind Virtual Worlds Person of the Year Award.

"As an Association for an industry experiencing explosive growth, we should recognize individuals who, in a particularly extraordinary way, are impacting the field for the better. With the Person of the Year award, we hope to identify and reward the person who the AVW membership deems most worthy," says Dave Elchoness, Executive Director.

The 2008 winner will be announced by its membership on the Association's first birthday, February 21, 2009.

"We are a vibrant and exciting global industry," adds Edita Kaye, founder of the Association, "and the leaders are not only impacting virtual worlds, but the entire Internet -- the way in which all of us will live, work, and play in the near future. These are the people bringing the worlds of tomorrow to us today, and should be recognized and applauded."

The Association of Virtual Words is a global industry association for the rapidly growing virtual worlds industry. It serves as a resource for those wishing to experiment and explore virtual worlds for work or play. The Association's mission is to educate, network, recruit, and further the membership's collective goals.
