GMI and TechTarget Join Forces to Build Premier Online IT Panel
GMI (Global Market Insite, Inc.), a leading provider of global market intelligence solutions, today announced a strategic partnership with publisher TechTarget, providing market research professionals with direct access to an even broader community of IT professionals and decision-makers worldwide. GMI built, manages and operates the TechTarget IT Research Panel, implementing modern techniques to create a high-quality double-opted in panel of real IT professionals and decision-makers who actively participate in online research.
Seattle, Wash. (PRWEB) April 25, 2008 -- According to independent technology and market research company Forrester Research, Inc., global purchases of IT goods and services will equal $1.7 trillion in 2008, while total global spending on technology goods, services, and staff will reach $2.4 trillion in 2008, an 8% increase from 2007. In order to get timely visibility into how tech buyers are planning to spend that money, firms are increasingly turning to online research. The TechTarget IT Research Panel enables market researchers to gain virtually instant insights into the buying trends and decision-making process for these purchases from a wide range of respondents' perspectives. Survey responses from technical users to financial decision-makers give firms a competitive edge when determining which product features will be successful, and how to position IT products and services offerings in the marketplace.
TechTarget's own proprietary database of over 6.6 million registered users is derived from the company's 50 technology-specific Web sites, of which more than 2.2 million corporate IT professionals have agreed to participate in online market research.
"The decision to partner with GMI was easy," explains Dan Waggenheim, vice president, media products for TechTarget based in Needham, Mass. "We have a huge database of IT professionals, and GMI is the panel quality expert. We wanted our panel to adhere to the same rigid standards of panel integrity that GMI applies to its own online panels."
"We believe TechTarget's database is key to building one of the industry's premier IT specialty panels," adds Mitch Eggers, GMI's chief technology officer. "Its magnitude presents a huge opportunity for market researchers, backed by increasing quality. In addition to double-opting in every panelist, GMI is implementing several methods to increase panel integrity while preserving the highest response rates possible."
The following are some of the protocols GMI will implement to enhance the integrity of the TechTarget panel:
Email invitations are only sent to double-opted in panelists. Panelists are only invited to double-opt in if they pass the initial registration screen.
- Purge straight-line clickers
Metrics and responses are closely monitored to ensure no panelist is clicking the same response or pattern of responses throughout the online survey.
Minimum time thresholds proactively eliminate responses that appear to be the result of hasty answering.
All duplicate emails are automatically purged from the system.
- Permanently block suspicious email addresses, domains and IPs
Online survey takers who are known to have provided inaccurate data are automatically blocked from taking future surveys.
- Implement a formalized incentive program
Panelists receive points that are redeemable for cash after every survey they finish.
GMI can confidently deliver completed surveys from IT professionals and technology purchasers both domestically and wordwide, in countries such as the USA, the UK, China, Japan, India, France, Germany and more.
