The Greenbrier Enhances Children's Offerings for the Summer
The Greenbrier resort in West Virginia has recently introduced new offerings for children visiting the property this summer. For aspiring golfers, all three of the resort's championship courses have added Junior Tees, allowing young or beginning golfers the opportunity to play alongside more experienced golfers. Little ones looking to become a chef for a day can participate in The Greenbrier's Children's Gourmet Cooking Classes, being offered May - August 2008. Both of these enhance the offerings currently in place for children and teens, which include over 50 recreational activities such as hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, mountain biking, and off-road driving; specialty spa treatments for teens; and the Adventure Zone, which offers full-day and evening programs exclusively for younger guests, combining artistic and intellectual enrichment with physical activities.
White Sulphur Springs, WV (PRWEB) April 25, 2008 -- The Greenbrier resort in West Virginia has recently introduced new offerings for children visiting the property this summer.
The new Junior Tee courses play at approximately 4,000 yards, which is 1,000 yards shorter than the current forward tees, and special scorecards are also available that show the shorter modified yardage for each course. Junior Golfers can also take advantage of The Greenbrier Golf Academy, which features golf schools, daily clinics, private lessons, on course playing lessons and family lessons, all designed to introduce young golfers to the sport. This year, The Greenbrier also hosts four Junior Golf tournaments, which will be played on the resort's three championship courses: the International Junior Golf Tour, held April 11-13, the Blue Ridge Junior Golf Tour on June 24, the West Virginia Top Flite Junior Tour Championship on July 30 and the American Junior Golf Association Tournament on August 30-September 1.
For young and aspiring chefs, the resort's Gourmet Cooking Classes provide two hours of enjoyable hands-on culinary experience from The Greenbrier culinary staff. Parents will be delighted to see the dishes prepared by their children, which focus on signature themes including "Pizza Pizzazz," "I'll Make Supper," "Let's Bake," "Afternoon Snacks" and "Family Favorites." A sampling of dishes from past classes include Homemade Individual Pizzas, Old Fashioned Macaroni and Cheese, Mini Cheesecakes with Chocolate Crust, Dried Cherry Granola Squares and Turkey Sloppy Joes with Homemade Fries. Under the tutelage of The Greenbrier's world-renowned culinary staff, who have undergone extensive studying and training, children will enjoy learning the fundamental steps of creating culinary masterpieces in an exciting environment.
Children's Gourmet Cooking Classes are offered May 27 - August 31, 2008 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 2:30 - 4:30 pm.
