Rising Interest in Second Home Living Spurs Construction

After a year and a half of planning, construction has begun at White Sulphur Springs in Mountain Airy, NC. Freshly turned red Appalachian clay is the harbinger of the creation of a truly unique community in the heart of the Yadkin Valley Wine Country, just eight miles from The Blue Ridge Parkway.

Mount Airy, NC (PRWEB) April 27, 2008 -- After a year and a half of planning, construction has begun at White Sulphur Springs in Mountain Airy, NC. Freshly turned red Appalachian clay is the harbinger of the creation of a truly unique community in the heart of the Yadkin Valley Wine Country, just eight miles from The Blue Ridge Parkway.

"Sometimes it is hard for a potential property owner to envision what a community will become," said Burke Robertson, owner and developer. "Even though we have extensive architectural plans, having the roads roughed in makes it easier to envision this community, homesites and amenities. We now have much better access to the individual home sites giving everyone a better idea about the advantages of each individual site. It is an exciting time for us."

Paul and Cecelia Belk, purchasers of Lot #34, spent a pleasant April afternoon hiking up through the developing community to the tree covered site for the couple's new home at the peak of the northeast ridge. "The sense of the historic property in White Sulphur Springs is that as it is re-emerging as a community it is a place that already puts you at ease. Our lot has a serene view across the trees and hills on to the rise of Blue Ridge Mountains beyond" said Paul, store manager of Belk department store in Mount Airy. "We are just a few minutes from town yet we feel like we are in a secluded mountain getaway. The Blue Ridge Parkway scenic highway winds atop the ridge within sight from the property. Yet, the great things that Mount Airy offers are conveniently just down the road to the south".

Walking the roughed in roads; winding and curving along the ridges and through the hillside, Cecelia Belk said, "We will be visiting the property often to see how things are progressing."

In addition to the road construction, installation of in-ground utility lines is underway, sedimentation ponds are in place and several tons of brilliant Mount Airy granite sits on the front lawn for a series of monumental retaining walls. The granite will reduce the need for extensive grading and will be less invasive to the densely wooded sites.

White Sulphur Springs includes 92 hillside home sites ranging from one to three wooded acres. The community will feature Arts and Crafts architectural designs for homes, a new spring house, an events pavilion and a planned 28-room inn. Complete concierge service offers residents a uniquely convenient lifestyle. "We are encouraged by the continued interest in White Sulphur Springs, especially by people looking for a second home. Our ability to preserve and enhance long term values and our unique community plan is just right for the second home buyer," said Robertson.

Robertson encourages anyone interested in visiting the property to call in time to enjoy the spring views. Robertson invites visitors to join him for a tour the property via Club Car. Visit www.WhiteSulphurSpringsNC.com to learn more about the community and region.
