Local Attorney Gives Back to the Organization that Saved His Life

San Diego personal-injury attorney Gordon Levinson pledged a $3,500 charitable contribution to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). The grant will help support an upcoming MADD walk-a-thon known as Walk Like MADD. Levinson credits MADD with saving his life because as a teenager he exited a car driven by a drunk driver minutes before the car crashed.

Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) April 30, 2008 -- Local San Diego personal-injury attorney Gordon Levinson has pledged a $3,500 charitable donation to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to support its upcoming walk-a-thon entitled Walk Like MADD.

Walk Like MADD, MADD's signature walk-a-thon, is a fun, community-driven five-kilometer walk that raises funds and saves lives. The walk helps MADD support programs for victims of drunk driving, and helps prevent underage drinking.

The walk will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Bay Side Park in San Diego. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., and the walk begins at 9:30 a.m.

"MADD appreciates the generosity and vision of Gordon Levinson. Gordon is a loyal and longtime supporter of MADD, and a valuable member of its Advisory Board," according to MADD San Diego's Executive Director Patricia Hodgkin.

Gordon Levinson is the senior attorney and owner of the Levinson Law Group, a Carlsbad based law firm that specializes in personal-injury law. The Levinson Law Group represents victims of life-changing tragedies, and is especially passionate in the cause against drunk driving. In addition to being a longtime supporter of MADD, Gordon credits MADD with saving his life: "When I was sixteen years old, I was a passenger in a drunk driver's car. I asked the driver to pull over, and I got out of the car. I also pulled my fourteen-year-old little brother out of the car. Minutes after we got out, the driver crashed into a telephone pole completely destroying the car. My brother and I would have been killed. The reason I had the common sense to get out of the car was that MADD had just given a talk at my school and their message stayed with me."

MADD is a non-profit grass roots organization with approximately 600 chapters nationwide. MADD's mission is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking. MADD's National Programs Department specializes in developing and maintaining public awareness programs at the chapter, state, and national level, involving the community as a whole in supporting MADD's mission. The department continually looks for new ways for MADD to reach a diverse population, with particular attention focused on helping youth. Walk Like MADD is an example of MADD's community outreach.
