Christine Burgess Becomes First Recipient of Newly Established Award.
Urbana, IA (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 30, 2008 -– Aura Cacia, the leading aromatherapy manufacturer in the U.S., announced today it has awarded a $500 scholarship to Christine Burgess of Salt Lake City, Utah. Ms. Burgess becomes the first recipient of the newly established scholarship award that will help pay for tuition expenses as she begins her formal training at the California School of Herbal Studies, in the 2008 Roots of Herbalism program.
In announcing the award, Tim Blakley, Aura Cacia Training Manager, stated that “the mission and goals of the California School of Herbal Studies aligns very well with our own mission of promoting sustainable and ethical agricultural practices. Our hope is that other people with these same interests will want to pursue advanced learning opportunities that can then be applied in their own farming practices.”
Founded in 1978 by Rosemary Gladstar, and led today by School Directors Rebecca Maxfield and Jason Miller, CSHS works to empower individuals with the skills, experience and confidence needed by the community herbalist. Located two miles west of Forestville, in beautiful Sonoma County, the school teaches from the tradition of western Herbalism, with a materia medica primarily made up of North American and European herbs. Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine perspectives and herbs are used to complement the Western tradition.
