When Montpelier acquired Principa, the independent financial advisors, they decided that Principa's central London offices off Trafalgar Square had the right location but did not offer the image and quality of office space that the group required.
When working in many central London buildings, preservation or listing orders that restrict changes have to be taken into account, so any alterations have to be sympathetic to the original layout and finishings. Access can also be restricted, as was the case, with only a small passenger lift and narrow winding staircase. An existing and quite intrusive air conditioning system had to be worked around as per part of the landlord's request.
Montpelier required a clean and modern makeover for their new site which included new ceilings, new flooring and division of an entire open plan floor into meeting rooms. A new suite of high quality furniture was also required to complete the newly created spaces and included meeting tables of varying sizes with seating, storage and a reception to represent the company's distinction.
Mainrock were selected as supplier because of their experience in a variety of bespoke work completed for many different building environments. Using their in-house CAD planning service, they were able to visualise the entire project prior to commencement and suggest the right furniture which best suited the needs of this dynamic company. Mainrock produced a contemporary concept using glass partitioning from the Komfort Polar range to create individual rooms which didn't intrude on the building's features and still gave the floor an open feel. Movable glass walls by Style Partitions were installed to create versatile spaces ranging from intimate to boardroom. This enabled Montpelier to quickly reconfigure meeting rooms and furniture according to needs.
