Foster Children Create Art Exhibition

Under the theme 'emotions and feelings' the exhibition will include poetry, artwork and ceramics created by foster children. The exhibition which will run throughout February aims to highlight the plight of the children and demonstrate the many emotions and inner feelings they have experienced.

(PRWEB) May 2, 2008 -- Artwork from children and young people in care will be showcased at an art exhibition to be launched at the Billericay Library on February 1, 2007.

Under the theme 'emotions and feelings' the exhibition will include poetry, artwork and ceramics created by foster children. The exhibition which will run throughout February aims to highlight the plight of the children and demonstrate the many emotions and inner feelings they have experienced.

Organisers, Foster Care Associates (FCA) hope that the exhibition will provide a platform to display and appreciate the creative talents of the foster children who through no fault of their own find themselves living in care.

Kim Selfe, recruitment officer at FCA eastern, explained: "We have been amazed at the wonderful pieces of art which the children have created. By staging the exhibition we hope to raise awareness of fostering and encourage potential foster carers to take up this rewarding career.

"Our launch event in Billericay is just part of a series of exhibitions which we have planned across the region in the run up to Foster Care Fortnight in May this year.

FCA is the UK's leading independent foster care agency with a network of 80 offices UK-wide. With the current national shortage of foster carers around 10,000, FCA is continually seeking to attract new carers who believe they have the determination and understanding to take up this challenging yet hugely rewarding career.
