Academy of Art University Students Win Fabrica Scholarships

Two lucky Academy of Art University students are headed to Treviso, Italy to work at Fabrica for a year.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 1, 2008 -- After reviewing over 75 Academy of Art student portfolios, Enrico Bossan and Erik Ravelo, the editorial and creative directors of Colors magazine, along with Babak Payami, acclaimed director of video and film at Fabrica, awarded Tomi Lahdesmaki, School of Graphic Design, and Hanna Abi-Hanna, School of Animation, one-year, fully paid scholarships to intern with Fabrica's creative team.

At the awards presentation, Fabrica's Babak Payami said, "There are volumes to speak of the students' work. Every portfolio showed individuality, we were very impressed. Fabrica in a way, begins where your work in formal training ends. Fabrica is possibilities, Fabrica is probabilities." It is the dream child of Luciano Benetton and Olivero Toscani. Fabrica's purpose is to create an environment of independence for young, ambitious, and audacious artists who have no fear of the unknown.

Other students whose talents had impressed the Colors team were finalists, Jure Favran, Sumila Mehta, Katie Freathy, Tadashi Omura, and Jayde Cardinalli, School of Graphic Design; Maureen Olund, Motion Pictures and Television; and Nursani Siagain, School of Animation.
