Jacksonville, Fla. (PRWEB) May 5, 2008
Representatives from The Archer Group announced today that the new Hale Irwin designed golf course at The Coves at Round Mountain will be named Round Mountain Golf Club.
The naming comes just weeks after the announcement of Hale Irwin being designated as the designer of the highly-anticipated new course, which will be located 30 minutes south of Blowing Rock, N.C., in the town of Collettsville. As with other courses he has designed, Irwin plans for Round Mountain Golf Club to be classic in nature and to utilize the natural terrain of the Coves community to influence the use of strategy and shot-planning by golfers. Construction on the new course is set to begin in Fall 2008, with completion tentatively scheduled for 2011, but the new course will be phased in to keep the majority of the existing course available for play during construction.
The team of Irwin and his son, Steve, will utilize their golf skill and insight to ensure that Round Mountain Golf Club course is the best all-around golf experience in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Since founding Hale Irwin Golf Design in 1986, Irwin has completed 18 projects, including three in North Carolina, with many more currently in progress across the United States and internationally. In addition to Irwin's involvement, Rick Robbins will also serve as the lead golf architect on Round Mountain Golf Club. Robbins brings more than 34 years of experience in golf course design, land planning and project management to the team, developing numerous courses throughout the United States and the Far East.
"When searching for a course name, we kept going back to the highest elevation point in the development, Round Mountain. We feel this reflects our plans for The Round Mountain Golf Club, to be one of the top courses in the area and a pinnacle for golf course living in North Carolina," said Tim Ritch, managing partner of The Archer Group. "The Coves is a very special and unique mountain community that will feature river amenities along five miles of river frontage, an equestrian center, a fitness center, a spa and wellness center, more than 20 miles of hiking and riding trails, fly fishing on the Johns River and Wilson's Creek, amazing recreational areas in the adjacent to Pisgah National Forest and breath taking views of Table Rock, Grandfather Mountain and The Blowing Rock. To compliment these great amenities, we're confident that Round Mountain Golf Club will be a challenging, but rewarding mountain course that will be enjoyed by everyone."
About Hale Irwin Golf Design
Hale Irwin, alongside son Steve, has been working side-by-side now for more than five years developing and creating new golf course properties across the United States. In late 2006, a dedicated focus to expand internationally also became a focal point for the designing duo. With more than 18 years of golf course design experience, Hale Irwin truly understands all facets of golf design and construction and knows what it takes to bring a course out of the ground the right way. Now it also guides our work in course design, community development and joint-ventures across the U.S. and beyond. We create winning partnerships - projects where investment, residential and recreational objectives are achieved." - Hale Irwin.
