St Paul, MN (PRWEB) May 5, 2008 -- Visitors to the Minneapolis History Center in St Paul, Minnesota, will find a creative, audio CD single on sale in May to support Minnesota's State Sesquicentennial Celebration and the exhibit of a rare, original copy of the Declaration of Independence. The CD, 'The Declaration of Independence Song,' is a fun, sing-along that helps students learn the words of the Declaration of Independence.

Created by 4th grader Steffy Boyd and her family to help her master a school memorization assignment, this fun sing-along song offers teachers and students a fun way to remember and recite the famous words of Thomas Jefferson. Steffy, now 19, who also performed the vocals on the CD, said, "Singing the words made learning easy and fun!"

The Minneapolis History Center holds a vast collection of Minnesota artifacts ranging from American Indian moccasins and artwork to furniture and photographs, Civil War-era flags and a wealth of genealogical information. The Center will host a rare, original copy of the Declaration of Independence May 6-18, coinciding with Minnesota Statehood Week, commemorating the 150th anniversary of Minnesota becoming the 32nd state of the Union.

"Since the tragedy of Sept 11, America's leaders have discovered a disturbing fact: many Americans don't know much about our country's founding documents, including the Declaration of Independence. A 2006 study of college students showed a significant lack of knowledge of America's history and government. Fewer than half recognized that the line 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,' is from the Declaration of Independence, " said Jack Boyd, Steffy's father, who performed the music and produced the CD.

"Thousands of students have sung 'The Declaration of Independence Song' to help learn a key part of US history. We are happy to partner with The Minnesota History Center to make 'The Declaration of Independence Song' available to patrons in the History Center Store," added Mr. Boyd.

The Minnesota History Center is located at 345 Kellogg Blvd W, St Paul, MN, 651-259-3000.
