"President's Award" and three "Shining Star" Awards presented to Los Angeles Chapter for the organization's "model of innovation." Awards were presented at NAPO National Conference, Reno Nevada on April 12, 2008.

The Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO-LA) has received the 2008 NAPO National "Presidents Award." In addition, three Los Angeles Chapter Leaders- John Trosko, Chris McKenry and Jodie Watson- each received the "Shining Star Award." Both awards celebrate a commitment to excellence and innovation in the professional organizing industry on a national level.

"It is my honor to accept the 2008 NAPO National President's Award on behalf of the Los Angeles Chapter membership. I am proud and impressed by the high caliber of individuals leading our organization. I congratulate our chapter members behind these projects for their remarkable skill, teamwork and out-of-the box achievements," said John Trosko, NAPO-LA President.

Presented in front of an audience of nearly 800, the awards were held in conjunction with the NAPO National Annual Conference, held April 9-12, at John Ascuaga's Nugget in Reno, Nevada.

According to Standolyn Robertson, NAPO National President, "The Los Angeles Chapter receives the 2008 President's Award for taking a cutting-edge risk that turned out to be a hallmark in our industry: creating the Los Angeles Organizing Awards. We celebrate their innovation and ability to do something different to showcase the professional organizing industry."

Robertson continued: "By creating The Los Angeles Organizing Awards, the Chapter managed to combine plastic bins, productivity products, organizing books and tips with the glitter of evening wear, the flash of camera and glamour of Hollywood. When Hollywood was forced to cancel award ceremonies because of the writer's strike, NAPO Los Angeles was busy at work."

Individual achievement "Shining Star Awards" were also presented to three Chapter leaders for their involvement in the NAPO-Los Angeles Chapter's "model of innovation." Additional Chapter programming includes the "Los Angeles Organizing Awards," "NAPO in the Schools" (formerly "NAPO-LA in the Schools"), the Chapter's public-accessible newsletter- "The Los Angeles Organizer" and the Educational Development Committee Mentoring program. Shining Star Awards were presented to:

John Trosko, NAPO-LA President
Chris McKenry, NAPO-LA Immediate Past-President
Jodie Watson, NAPO-LA Vice-President

This marks the first time an entire Chapter has received an award of this kind in NAPO National's 20-year history.
