They offer a wide range of screening services and background checks including Individual Background Searches, Criminal and Court Records Search, Pre-Employment Search, Business Search and Tenant Search. maintain their lead in the marketplace by familiarizing themselves with the latest tools and techniques.

Recently Claire Venables, CEO Of attended NAPBS (National Assoc of Professional Background Screeners) in New Orleans in April

Claire learned about the NAPBS conference through her investigations on the internet and found their website. She quickly realized that the annual NAPBS conference would play a vital part in's future success, particularly by meeting new vendors and competitors, sharing experiences and learning new skills.

She also realized the importance of learning what to adhere to and what business processes to steer clear of.

We sat down with Claire to ask her what she had learnt. She told us "Legislation is a huge stumbling block in growing our business. The FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) is our best friend and worst enemy! There are many states here in USA that do not allow public information to be shared. Since there are 50 states there are 50 sets of laws to abide by. Also every country has very different ways of collating public records. UK seems to be the easiest process of finding data, India however is very difficult and is non reliable and credit records cannot be pulled"

She went on to explain "The privacy laws make it hard for landlords to call judgment on potential tenants. The information on a credit report that we (Consumer Reporting Agency) can provide is limited to a score or pass/fail system. These points consist of the following -

S--Sources of information are public (e.g. criminal records) and private records, verification of credentials
C--Consent in writing under Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and state laws
R-Rationale (Pre-employment screening discourages applicants with something to hide, encourages honesty, demonstrates due diligence and helps to hire based upon facts and not just instinct
E--Even handed (similarly situated people treated similarly and EEOC rules)
E--Effectiveness -No single tool can be relied upon but need series of overlapping tools
N- Not an FBI check or Big Brother watching but a valuable due diligence employment tool

Claire went on to say that the high point of the conference for her were the vendor exhibits which gave her a better understanding of what additional services can and should offer, also the fact that she met other business owners and employees of screening companies who were willing to share their experiences and wisdom.

Claire also told us that she had made many new contacts at the NAPBS conference and that she had also gained a lot of knowledge that will benefit the company as a vendor and as a knowledge base.

By absorbing all of the update industry information Claire has realized that keeping in line with the maze of federal laws will be easier.

We asked Claire what new services that her company could offer customers and she told us "We can now fingerprint you and send them to the FBI so they are checked and you are registered, we can also run credit checks with Transunion previously we only dealt with Experian. We can also now run background screening checks in Mexico and Canada.

All in all the knowledge skills and tools gained will help to maintain their position as the premier background screening company in the US.
