Excel Meridian Data, Inc. (EMD), subsidiary of Alanco Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALAN) announced today the release of the NetStor WSS Quad Core network attached storage solution, featuring the powerful Intel Xeon Quad Core 2.0GHz CPU.

The NetStor WSS R2 has always been the top seller in the EMD storage lineup, and with the addition of the Quad Core performance with no price increase, that trend will continue. Powered by the Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 R2, the WSS NAS ‘header’ is the core of the solution with an assortment of compatible RAID storage arrays offering SATA, SAS, and FC storage connectivity. Scalable to 128TB capacity per NAS, the WSS offers customization options to meet virtually any need.

The performance of the NetStor WSS Quad Core is enhanced by its ability to remotely operate via Ethernet with IPMI 2.0 (KVM over IP) remote server management. This allows users remote access and control of all aspects of the WSS via Ethernet connection. With the optional integrated iSCSI target software, the WSS becomes a NAS filer plus iSCSI block-level Storage Server for maximum growth potential.

Benefits of the NetStor WSS R2 include:

  • Investment protection by leveraging industry leading technology and components
  • Instant backup, restore and off-site replication for superior disaster recovery
  • Scalability offering maximum bandwidth and growth potential
  • Anti-virus and a secure platform provide ultimate data protection
  • Flexible storage consolidation for messaging systems and relation databases
  • Exceptional service with standard warranty including NBD advance replacement, on-sit4e service, and lifetime toll-free phone support – 5 year parts available

EMD Storage VP of Operations, Mike Boulter, said, "EMD is proud to bring our customers the latest advancements in storage technology and we are committed to continuing that practice. The Intel Quad Core brings unmatched performance to our already robust NetStor WSS server storage solution, and we’ve done so without increasing the price."
