The Spleak network expands to include Sports and Politics, bringing the latest news and opinions on the upcoming Olympics, US Presidential Election and more to the leading IM and social networks

Spleak Media Network, the San Francisco-based hybrid publishing company, announces the launch of SportSpleak and VoteSpleak. These two new communities provide interactive content hubs for sports fans and political enthusiasts to gather and share opinions about their favorite teams and players as well as issues and political figures. Like the company's first community, CelebSpleak, users read and publish short-form content across a variety of media. Users of the Spleak network can both publish and consume content on many different platforms including AIM, Facebook, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, MySpace, and even to mobile phones via SMS.

"We are excited to launch SportSpleak and VoteSpleak and to expand the platform to an even wider audience with a variety of passions," says Morrie Eisenberg, CEO of Spleak Media Network. "The success of CelebSpleak proves that we've built a platform that's viral and engaging for our users; with the Olympics and the US Presidential Election approaching, there's no better time to introduce political and sports communities where young people share their voices online."

The Spleak Media Network (http://www.spleakmedianetwork.com) offers a hybrid publishing platform combining user generated content (UGC) with professional editorial content from mainstream publishers. Hearst Digital Media, owner of CosmoGirl, Seventeen, Teen Magazine and others, was the first large publisher to partner with Spleak and leverage their hybrid publishing model. Similar partnerships will be announced soon for the SportSpleak and VoteSpleak communities, and Spleak is actively seeking additional content partners.

The current Spleak Media Network, which has over 100,000 active daily users, includes:

  • CelebSpleak (http://www.celebspleak.com), a community for celeb enthusiasts to read and write "Tattles" about their favorite luminaries from the entertainment world.
  • SportSpleak (http://www.sportspleak.com), a community for sports fans to read about their favorite teams and players, and share their own insights (called "SmackTalk") across the network.
  • VoteSpleak (http://www.votespleak.com), a community for the socially conscious to voice their perspectives ("Opinions") on key public issues.

Spleak users on AIM, Facebook, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, MySpace and other locations across the web see professional content side-by-side with UGC. This hybrid publishing model reaches users in the places where they spend time online, and combines the best of UGC with the advantages of professional editorial content. CelebSpleak has proven that hybrid publishing has great appeal, and that IM, social networks and web widgets are interesting and engaging means for consuming and publishing content. The introduction of SportSpleak and VoteSpleak broaden the appeal of the Spleak Media Network and engage an even wider audience.
