Annapolis, MD (PRWEB) May 10, 2008 -- Douglas McGaughey, CPP, Principal Consultant for 29-TEN, has been selected to present, "Understand the Terrorist Cycle - Mitigate Your Risks" to an international assembly of security experts at the September ASIS International Conference in Atlanta in September, 2008. The 90-minute seminar, he explained, dissects the 14 phases of a terrorist incident and answers each phase with a counter-measure which, he says, will mitigate risks to personnel, information, facilities and equipment.

His briefing, developed over the last 25-years, has been updated multiple times as situations and adversaries dictated and presented to over 40,000 personnel worldwide, in audiences ranging from US military troops to high school students, Government agencies, universities and global corporations. The briefing is fact based, using real-world and real-time scenarios to illustrate each facet, after which he discusses both doctrinal and non-doctrinal counter-measures to mitigate risks.

Understand the Terrorist Cycle - Mitigate Your Risks
Mr. McGaughey understands the multi-phased threat; he learned his craft hands-on, in support of US Government activities around the globe, to include United Nations and NATO global operations. In his almost 30-year career in counterintelligence and security operations, Mr. McGaughey has evaluated diverse threats ranging from foreign intelligence threats to U.S. technologies and operations to indigenous terror groups, para-military organizations, insurgents and criminal threats directed at U.S. military installations and forward based joint operations. In each instance he assessed the capabilities and intent of the adversary, available resources and recommended and implemented common-sense and cost-effective counter-measures.

He brings his unique experience to each of his briefings and offers attendees suggestions on "out-of-the-box" threat mitigation techniques that can reduce threats without breaking the budget.

Mr. McGaughey lives in Annapolis.
